It has been talked about on the web for over a year already that people are experiencing a loss of taste or smell after using Zicam. In one case the person had extreme burning in their nasal passage, to the point where they could barely touch their face.
I have used this product and I did not have this experience. The product actually worked great as far as preventing a cold and in another case reducing cold symptoms. I am bummed I can’t use it anymore, but thankful that I or no one in my family had this horrible side effect.
As of right now there is no information on the Zicam webiste about a recall, but the FDA warning is enough for me. I’m pulling it out of the medicine drawer now.

130 reports seems rather small. I wonder how many other cold medicine side effects have been reported?
Zicam’s always worked great for me. Hopefully they’re able to correct the problem so we can continue to us the products.

I hope so. I guess I won’t throw away what I have yet. I did just buy a box of the nose swabs to avoid summer colds.

there is alot of review of these nasal/cold products which people have been using for ages, the trend is worrying as to what is safe!

I used the Zicam nasal gel and oral mist about 6 days ago and have lost smell and taste for the last 5 days. This is no BS. I just hope it comes back.

I just used it! I am a single mom and did not hear about this. I cant smell anything!! I could not even smell Vicks cold gel. Am I going to get my sense of smell back. I feel like I am going to have an anxiety attack. Will someone please tell me that they are okay
