Snickers Super Bowl Commercial Banned
So great, my favorite super bowl commercial was banned. Incase you didn’t see it…there’s these two mechanics working on a car. One of them puts a Snickers bar in his both and the other bites the other end until they meet in the middle. And smooch. So they jump back and yell aarrrghh!! Do something manly. They proceed to pull out a patch of chest hair. End of commercial.
Apparently, there were two other endings that were being shown on the Snickers website. One was where after yelling, one of them grabs the other one and puts his head into the engine compartment and starts banging the hood down on him. The other has them both reaching for and drinking motor oil. The website also showed the football team watching the commercial and there were a lot of “oh gross”, etc. type comments.
So GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Association Against Defamation) is pissed. They feel that the ads don’t represent the gay community in a positive light. Blah, blah!
The commercial was funny. I didn’t see anything defaming to gay men. The mechanics were not gay, obviously and they were grossed out when their lips touched. What’s wrong with that? If your not gay, why would you want to kiss someone of the same sex.
Anyway, I’m not gay, so I’m not hyper-sensitive about it. I still thought it was a great commercial.
Buy Snickers!
