I voted for Melinda until a callus appeared on my finger last night.

She came out so strong with Whitney Houston. Her stage presence is enough to keep me watching and listening to her. She just exudes power, yet appears to be so humble at the same time.

I can’t wait til tonight to find out what happened.

I had a great day today. I woke up this morning and looked out the window. My kids had written ‘Happy Mommy’s Day’ in big pink chalk letters outside on the patio. From there I went and saw my own mom and grandma. Then we went to lunch at the Ventura Harbor to a restaurant called Scotch and Sirloin. There were 20 of us total and we spent about 4 hours there eating and drinking.

After dinner we came back to my place and watch the Survivor season finale. (I can’t believe Dreams kept the immunity. Did he really think anyone would vote for him after that?) Anyway, not surprised that Earl swept it.

BTW-I got this photo printer as a gift. The thing is really amazing. The quality of the pictures it spits out is really very good. It’s called an Epson Picture Mate. It’s small and has a handle so I could take it with me to one of my daughter’s tournaments or something if I wanted to.

Anyway, hope you all had a nice day.

I just got done watching Grey’s Anatomy (I had to TIVO it). Anyway, it was the two hour special that introduced Addison’s new life (rumored spin off) in Los Angeles.

I hate to say it, but I thought it was a bit overkill. I mean in the one hour that the show spent introducing the new characters we saw the following:

    A divorced couple.
A gay couple fighting for custody of a baby.
A single woman that wants to have a baby and can’t.
A woman that had a baby and didn’t know who the father was and almost died.
Addison made-out with another hot doctor.
An interracial marriage (Older white guy married a young African American girl).
An interracial attraction (Young white guy and older African American woman).
Addison saves the life of above mentioned mother that has baby (prematurely I might add)!
Doctor gets car stolen from younger female internet prostitute.
Same doctor makes a pass at his friend.

Did I leave anything out? I mean it was kinda pushing it. What more could there be? Is life here in Southern Cali really that exciting? Well, probably more so than Seattle, but not by much.

Anyway, I don’t know about this new spin off show they are planning, but if it goes this crazy in the first introductory episode, then I can’t imagine how they’ll top it.

I think Addison should keep her day job at Seattle Grace. Her life really isn’t exciting enough to launch a whole new show. That was obvious seeing as how the producers felt they had to drown her with turmoil and trauma in order to keep people tuned in.

It was a beautiful train wreck, but none the less, a train wreck. IMO of course.

I keep seeing the commercial for the Cingular Red Blackberry Pearl. That phone looks so awesome. It has a sleek design and the color looks like it’d be really easy to find in my purse.

Some of the other features that are appealing is that it has a camera (my Blackberry doesn’t have a camera). It has the great email capability that my Blackberry has, but more memory for mp3’s and videos.

Hopefully my hubby will read my blog and surprise me with one of these. :)

I have a new love in my life. My mascara.

I don’t wear a lot of make up, but I always wear mascara and this new “Bad Gal Lash” by benefit is amazing. It is very thick, but not clumpy and it stays on all day. It also washes off very easily at night.

If you’re looking for thick lush eye lashes, give it a shot.

I love my son. To death. My son loves to skateboard. I really dislike skateboarding.
I’m having an issue with this right now. I am trying to accept and support my son’s love and passion for skating, but for some reason I keep getting caught up on some issues I have with it and find myself (still after 2 years of him being obsessed with it) not wanting him to do it. I do see this as a character flaw in myself. I just can’t let it go. I can fake it sometimes, but deep down it’s there and I know he can sense that I’m not paying attention or not interested that he ollied an 8 stair.

Here are my pros/cons in what I think is order of priority, tell me if I’m being stupid and selfish.

You were a good year!

My last day of being 37 is today. That means I have 730 days left before I’m 40. I find myself reflecting on the years when I thought 40 was ‘forever’ away. And now, I can see it. It’ll be here before I know it.

Who said that 40 is the new 30? I love that person.

I graduated from high school in 1986 and I thought the year 2000 was an eternity away. Now in the year 2007, it seems like high school was just yesterday and sometimes I act like I’m still in high school. Why not? I’m almost 40, I can do whatever I want right?

Argh! Happy Birthday to me.

Every now and then we have a defining moment in our lives. As a mom of older kids, those moments come few and far between. Teenagers don’t usually provide you with moments that make you feel good about being a parent.

But mine did.

The other day I was picking up my 15 year old daughter from school. She had been in a good mood recently, and particularly on this day I saw a spring in her step. I mentioned it to her. I said “Honey, it seems like things are going really good for you, you seem really happy.” Her response, “Ya, I’m finally comfortable in my own skin.” I was floored!

I’m not even comfortable in my own skin, but for her to say that to me…it brought tears to me eyes. In the land we live in full of material things and airbrushed models, for her to say that to me made my year.

Did I have anything to do with it? I like to think so, but who knows. Regardless, the comment will never be forgotten.

It was a good mom day.

I’m sitting here watching American Idol and they have digitized an image of Elvis and he is singing a duet with Celine Dion. Okay, why?

This is just too weird. I mean Celine is powerful enough, why did they have to bring the ‘King’ back from the dead? It’s super creepy.

I wonder if the studio audience can see him?

Rosie announced today that she did not renew her contract to continue to host the View. After June, she’s out. She said that she would come on to do guest co-host spots or specials on depression.

I wasn’t a fan and I have to say I am glad she’s leaving. Ever since she joined the View the show turned into somewhat of a circus act. When I would watch, it was more to just see what she was going to say or do next. Who was she going to piss off today?

The banter between her, Joy and Elisabeth lost its value to me because they argued too much. Rather than get any points across, it was just like…oh here we go again.

So will the View ever be the same? That’d be a hell no. I don’t know if they’ll be able to get the show back to what it was before Rosie left her mark. As annoying as she was, she did bring in the ratings.

Side note: Did you ever notice that every time she walks out at the opening of the show, she has her arms out and looks surprised? The other ladies smile and/or wave to the audience while Rosie just looks like she didn’t know anyone was going to be there.

Like I said, I’m not a fan, so I’m glad she’s leaving.
