Chastity Bono Announces Sex Change

Chastity Bono has announced that she will be having a sex change to become a man. Apparently she began the process almost a year ago and is proud of her his decision. Chastity has been openly gay for about 20 years. I haven’t heard about her at all recently other than she was on a reality show (Celebrity Fit Club 3) a while back. (Chastity, if you want to get slim, try the It Works Body Wraps I was talking about, screw the reality shows. )
I hope she has her family’s support and hopefully the media will be kind to him. People can be so cruel.
In case you have never heard of Chastity she is the daughter of Cher and the late Sonny Bono. If you were alive in the 70s it’s likely you watched her as a cute little girl on her parents’ TV show. Chastity has grown up in the public eye, but at 40 decided it was time. Funny how that happens at 40. It’s kind of like a time bomb goes off in your head and says,” Screw everyone else. I’m gonna do what I want.”
Chastity is very active with GLAAD, she is a trained actor, and an accomplished writer. Now it’s time for her to focus on her him.

Good for Chastity! It takes guts to say “screw everyone”…whether you’re a celebrity (or child of celebrities) or not. I do remember her as a cute little toddler/child (having watched my fair share of Sonny & Cher – “I got you, babe” still runs through my head every so often).
Turning 40 can be pretty rough (and I thought that of turning 45 too). :}

When I was a college student back east, there was a person who worked in the library on campus who had a male-to-female operation who then regretted the decision and wanted to have an operation to change back to male again.
It seems to me that, before any procedure is to be performed, it is best to see a therapist to determine if such a drastic move is really the best way to proceed in life.

Sonny Bono is deceased, Cher’s career and most of her mind are dead but she is physically alive. For the life of me I still can’t figure people out that think they should be changed to something other than they are. What’s next – race and species changes? I can see someone telling a surgeon that they are a chimp trapped in a human body.

I watched the old Sonny & Cher shows and Chastity never looked happy to me, although it could be she was just a shy kid. As a woman, I think Chastity obviously exhibits male traits. If she’s that unhappy and uncomfortable being whom she is, why shouldn’t she have the sex change she desires? She’s paying for it, no one else is. Everyone must find their own way in life. We’re all responsible for our own happiness, so why should anyone be concerned or disgusted by Chastity’s decision? It’s her business. I wish her every happiness in her new gender. I can’t wait to see the results. Personally, I think Chastity will be more attractive as a man. Even if others disagree, it’s important to remember that it’s really what Chastity wants.

Changing gender from a female to male isn’t really going to help this individual. What is really going to change for her? Removing her breasts, okay, plenty of women have that done for health reasons. Can sexual reassignment give Chastity a “functioning” penis? The internal plumbing can be modified but never reassigned. So what is the point. Why does this 40-year woman hate herself so much? That is the core issue.
I watched Sonny & Cher on television–Chastity as a young toddler appeared uncomfortable. Whatever she changes herself into, inside, she still will be a female. I wish her the best. Her parents were a huge part of my teen years.

@Shu-Shu It’s obvious that you are not familiar with transgendered individuals. Inside she is not female and that is her issue, not self-hatred! It is a valid medical condition and I encourage you to educate yourself on it rather than espousing closed-minded comments like yours above. I wish her only the best. She is now a beautiful woman and I hope she will be happy with her life after all the surgeries are complete. I have heard they are horribly expensive and very, very painful. I imagine her mom supports her 100%.

Transsexuality is a physiological medical condition and Chaz deserves respect for living his true identity. Also, the words “sex change” are somewhat outdated and do not reflect the complexity of the situation.

If I were in front of you Chaz I would give you a hug and say THANK YOU for being you. Lisa and I are lesbian couple from Fl and we struggle everyday with the rudeness of people. Keep your head up strong, we know you can overcome anything that gets put in your path just like we do.
