Protect Our Children Act 2009 Bill #1738

This is a bi-partisan law to put your money where your mouth is and give law enforcement the support they need to catch the hundreds of thousands of online child predators/molesters.  The Senate will be voting on this bill this month before they break and if you are breathing today you need to contact your senators via email, telephone or telegram and tell them to vote YES for bill #1738 before they break on 9/26/2008.

Thank you to Oprah who spent her show focusing on this today and for shocking America to get off our butts and do something.  Sometimes, that’s what it takes.

To find out more go to Oprah’s website and look up your Senator, then get to work!

Charice Pempengco on Oprah

Charice Pempengco is a Filipino singer that originally appeared on Oprah on May 12th. Oprah was so impressed and touched by this 16 year old’s performance that she reached out to call the legendary David Foster and told him he needed to do something for her. The wheels began turning very quickly for little Charice who must be barely 5 feet tall. This little girl had no idea of what was about to happen to her, but in a nutshell all of her dreams are coming true at a rapid pace. If you haven’t already heard Charice sing, you must. She has a voice that could compete with Whitney, Celine, Andrea Bocelli and all of the top singers of the world and she is only 16 years old. Oh and don’t let me forget to mention she was discovered on YouTube. Just think without the internet, the world would have never found this treasure.

Oprah had Charice back on the show today and little does she know it, but she is going to meet Celine Dion. Before the big Celine unveiling Oprah had some of her fans on and gave them a chance to say hi to her. She also showed video of the first time Andrea Bocelli called her and she was so happy she came to tears. Charice then flew to Italy to sing a duet with her idol Andrea Bocelli. Their performance brought out more than 8,000 people while they sing “The Prayer” in Tuscany.

Charice talked about her childhood in manila and how she draws strength to sing from her mother.  When Charice was 3 years old she witnessed her father’s rage while he choked her mother and almost shot her until the neighbors came to rescue her.  Her mother taught her to sing when she was four years old and the first song she ever learned was My Heart Will Go On.  Charice began to help her mother make money by entering over 80 talent shows and using her prize money to buy food for the house.  There favorite food is of all things…pizza.

This story is so inspiring and definitely brought tears to my eyes.  I hope this little girl continues to sing her heart out and I look forward to hearing songs that were written for her.
